As a child who witnessed the limited opportunities of a father with only two years of elementary school and a mother that never finished college, I have always recognized the importance of education. My emphasis on education has now grown to include a love for research and mentorship. My goal is to contribute novel scientific research while teaching and mentoring younger students.
